Golf Fundraiser

The funding for our trip came from donations and a golf fundraiser. We are grateful to all who contributed. Donations came mostly from Woodlands Lutheran Church Members but also from friends and family.

The golf fundraiser was held at Green Valley Country Club in Clermont on Saturday, May 20th and was very successful. There were many activities, including a four-player scramble and putting contest. There was also a BBQ lunch, prizes, awards, and a silent auction. This was the fifth annual missions golf tournament for our church. Although the organization of the fundraiser was team work, a notable leader was Craig Watkins. In the picture below, Craig addresses the golfers at the beginning of the tournament.

Each golfer was able to participate in a putting contest. Afterwards, we said a prayer then it was time to golf! Golfers were in a team of four. Local businesses and individuals could sponsor specific holes on the golf course. Most players said that the course was challenging due to the hills, but everyone had a good time. After golfing, participants and organizers were treated to a BBQ lunch to where there were silent auctions and free hats.

Among the participants, we saw many familiar faces, including Pastor Brian Kneser, who was a pastor at our church.

Pastor Kneser (in the dark shirt and hat) was a beloved pastor at our church. He is now retired.

Another participant was Chris Leak, a former quarterback for the University of Florida and the Chicago Bears.

Thank you again to everyone for coming out and supporting us. Thank you to Sylvia Ericsson for taking photos. It was a great day!
